Museums can show us history through objects.
They also show us what it means to be human.
They reveal, partly in how things are displayed, how we have a need to classify most things, practically and conceptually.
Looking at manmade objects from the recent and distant past makes us think how important and clever we are – how ingenious but also how cruel. We venerate the past and our ancestors.
